Basic Description
The 10ft One Bedroom Expandable Container House uses a manual rack-and-pinion expansion mechanism – two people can extend it in about 30 minutes by turning a hand crank (provided). No heavy machinery or specialized tools are required for setup.
The expanding section has accordion-folded steel side walls with 75mm EPS panel insulation, and a telescoping roof section that slides out and seals with a rubber gasket. The floor is a single piece of 18mm magnesium oxide board that also expands – the expandable floor section slides out from under the main floor.
The interior layout is thoughtfully designed: the fixed part contains the bedroom (fits a double bed) and a small storage closet; the expandable part becomes a living room and kitchenette; the bathroom is at the opposite end of the fixed part.

The house features a reliable manual rack-and-pinion expansion mechanism. Simply turn the provided hand crank, and the entire side wing extends smoothly along precision guide rails. Two operators can complete full expansion in approximately 30 minutes. Four corner latches lock the expanded position securely in place once fully extended.
Insulated Steel Walls & Telescoping Roof
The expanding section uses accordion-folded steel side walls with 1.0mm thickness, built with 75mm EPS panel insulation for solid thermal performance. The telescoping roof section slides out seamlessly and seals with a durable rubber gasket, preventing water intrusion and maintaining indoor temperature. All steel components are treated for corrosion resistance to withstand outdoor conditions.
Fully Fitted Interior
The bathroom includes a composting toilet, a hand-held shower, and a instant electric water heater - all plumbed and ready for use. The kitchenette comes equipped with a stainless steel sink, and a two-burner induction cooktop, providing basic cooking capability. The bedroom area comfortably fits a standard double bed, and a built-in storage closet offers convenient space for personal belongings. Two double-glazed windows (one in the bedroom, one in the living area) let in natural light while maintaining insulation.
Pre-Wired Electrical Setup
The electrical system includes four LED lights for bright, energy-efficient illumination, and three power outlets - two in the expandable section use flexible conduits to accommodate the moving structure. A 30A solar-ready inlet is pre-installed, allowing easy connection to solar panels for off-grid use. The entire system is pre-wired at the factory and only requires connecting the main electrical umbilical cord on site.

Delivery & On-Site Setup
When folded, the unit measures just 3m × 2.2m × 2.48m - compact enough to ship on a standard flatbed truck, large utility trailer, or inside a standard shipping container for long-distance transport.
On site, setup is straightforward and fast. First, level the base unit on a prepared flat surface - compacted gravel, concrete pad, or pier footings all work fine. Then crank out the side expansion using the provided hand crank until fully extended. Lock the four corner latches to secure the expanded position. Finally, connect the electrical umbilical cord and the unit is ready for use. Total setup time for 2-4 people is roughly 30-60 minutes.
